Just occurred to me that John is “约翰”, so John Rabe is 约翰-拉贝。There’s a Chinese movie about Rabe’s role in saving as many in Nanjing as possible called 《拉贝日记》. In 1997 Rabe’s tombstone was moved from Berlin to Nanjing in honor of The Good Man of Nanking‘s work saving many chinese during the Japanese attack on Nanjing.

Beautifully photographed National Geographic feature on the travels of Marco Polo. If you are trying to be like Marco Polo, just remember that you’re 735 years too late
Part I: Venice to China
Part II: In China
