Why think for yourself? When you have faith in fortune tellers, you can believe in a reality that has the unlimited potential to change with every new day. Remember, imagination is stronger than knowledge and dreams are more powerful than facts. Don’t clutter your mind with knowledge when you can live in the fortune tellers dream world. — DLTruth, http://www.dltruth.com/showthread.php?tid=79

教会徒弟饿死师傅

I think this is the first bit of chinese culture that I absolutely disagree with.
UPDATE: This basically means that “If the Master teaches the Apprentice everything, then the Master will starve”. In other words, it’s normal in Chinese society use the secrecy of information as power for yourself. Quite a variance from the Open Society way of democratizing and sharing information.

That sounds awful! Is there more to the story? (Possibly Google Translate wasn’t 100% accurate too?)

Ah, well that’s a bit clearer than the Google Translation (and quite different) :) Thanks for the update.

It’s kind of sad for a society to think that way… surely that’s how knowledge is lost?
